Barack Obama not likely to be Antichrist

At work recently while discussing politics with some coworkers, I learned that some people think presidential hopeful Barack Obama is the Antichrist.

When I heard this, I laughed and thought, "You can't be serious," but they were, and they aren't the only people who think so.

When I got home that night, I searched "Obama+Antichrist," and I found several forums and Web pages created by people who seem to genuinely think Obama is the Antichrist.

To me, the number of people who think it's true is both surprising and very sad.
What has our world come to when a man is called the Antichrist for having a good message?

I realize that many people tend to have negative opinions of politicians. I can almost understand how a politician that seems genuine could be scary.

People are afraid of things they're not used to, but calling Obama the Antichrist takes it a little too far.

"I feel in my soul that he is the Antichrist," Howser, a member of apostropher.com, posted in a forum. "He's too good to believe."

People in these forums seem to be forgetting an important fact. Obama doesn't fit the Bible's description of the Antichrist.

The Bible states the Antichrist will not desire women, which leaves most people to think the Antichrist will be homosexual or celibate.

Obama, who has a wife and two young daughters, clearly desires women. Therefore, he doesn't fit in those categories.

Most people who study the Bible think the Antichrist will be Jewish, as the Antichrist is supposed to build Jewish temples and put an end to Jewish suffering.

Yet Obama isn't Jewish. He was raised Muslim and is a self-proclaimed Christian.

What I consider the most important characteristic people seem to be ignoring is that the Antichrist is supposed to arrive in the world accompanied by "all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders," according to 2 Thessalonians 2:9.

I haven't seen any miracles or wonders surrounding Obama. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think I am.

Also, if Obama were the Antichrist, I don't think that he would be in such a close race with Hillary Clinton.

I think someone with the power of the devil behind him could do a much better job winning the election.

It's a very sad world we live in when a politician is called the Antichrist because people believe what he says. Heaven forbid we have a president who actually will do something good for the country.

Obama is just a person. He doesn't have the power of the devil behind him. People need to stop giving a senator from Illinois so much credit.

I've read all of these replies and it appears to me that most people are basing their claims on "feelings" or "something they heard" from someone else. (Continued…)

FYI, the writer is correct the Bible does state that the antichrist will not have "the desire of women". However he is incorrect in assuming that that refers to a homosexual appetite. (Continued…)

I'm not claiming to know every thing about the bible, or Barack for that matter, but Bob is right. So many prophecies are being fulfilled, and many from the book of revelations. (Continued…)

I think this is rediculous. Obama is not the anti-christ. people keep saying that the end of the world is going to come sometime in 2012. But in the Bible doesn't it say it will some "like a theif in the night"? No one knows when the end of the world is going to come. (Continued…)

heres the thing, u say b cause barack obama conves a good message this means he is not the anti-christ, but it states very clearly in the bible that the anti-christ will appear good, and show his true evil after 3 1/2 years of leadership, after the jews create a temple thing, im not saying he is for sure, but its a definate possibility

"He was raised Muslim and is a self-proclaimed Christian."

No. He was raised in a secular household. His grandfather in Kenya was Muslim, his father was non-practicing and in any case left when Obama was a toddler. (Continued…)
