English professors to recite poetry

Autrey, Edwins, Flannagan will share several works at museum

The Florence Museum of Art, Science and History will be transformed into a poetry house 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 when three English professors recite several of their works.

The Poetry House event is part of the museum's Live Arts Series, which showcases dance, music, theatre and literature.

Admission is free and coffee will be served.

Dr. Ken Autrey, professor of English, Dr. Jo Angela Edwins, assistant professor of English, and Dr. Beckie Flannagan, associate professor of English, will recite several of their works.

Autrey's work has appeared in magazines such as Southern Poetry Review, South Carolina Review, Texas Review and Tar River Poetry. He also has published poetry in several anthologies, including "The Southern Poetry Anthology: South Carolina."

Edwins has written poems for several journals and the literary anthology "Migrants and Stowaways." In 2007, she received honorable mention in the South Carolina Poetry Initiative's chapbook contest.

Flannagan's work has been featured in Tar River Poetry, Quarterly West and Zoo River magazines.
