A revamped lineup of festivities will take place this week building up to Homecoming Day on Saturday, March 1, when the women's and men's basketball teams will play Clayton State University at 2 and 4 p.m., respectively.

The week kicks off Monday, Feb. 25 with activities for students and faculty members, while festivities for alumni begin Thursday, Feb. 28. The theme is "Join the Revolution," FMU's newly-adopted slogan, and admission is free to all events.

This year, there are events geared toward both students and alumni.

"We want all FMU graduates to know that they're invited to join the revolution and stay connected to Francis Marion," Director of Alumni Affairs Kim Turbeville said.

On Homecoming Day, a Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at 3:45 p.m. between the men's and women's basketball games. Inductees include former Patriot players Daryl Blume, who graduated in 1980, and Jennifer Grande Parker, a 2000 graduate.

From 1:30 to 5 p.m. that afternoon, the Athletic Department will sponsor a silent auction in the gym. All proceeds will benefit Patriot athletics.

Alumni will have the opportunity to hit the court on March 1 to show off their basketball skills during Battle at the UC.

The women's games will begin at 11 a.m., while men's games will commence at 11:30 a.m. in the gym.

A baseball doubleheader against Armstrong Atlantic State University, beginning at 1 p.m., also will be taking place that day.

During Demobilization at The Grille at 7 p.m. following the basketball games on Homecoming Day, alumni will have an opportunity to reconnect, and local band Midlife Crisis will perform to wrap up the week.

Opening ceremonies for Patriot Games, a series of events in which four-student teams compete, will take place 3:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 on the intramural field behind the University Center.

Patriot Games events will begin at 4 p.m. daily, and a water balloon toss, dizzy bat race and homerun derby will take place on the first day of competition on the softball field.

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, there will be old-fashioned fun such as tug-of-war, a three-legged-race, and punt, pass and kick competitions on the intramural field.
