Several student concerns were addressed at the second Student Government Association (SGA) town hall meeting recently despite a dismal turnout.
About five students were present at the Feb. 21 meeting in Lowrimore Auditorium. That number isn't even half the amount that showed up at the first meeting on Jan. 17.
In his opening remarks at the February meeting, SGA President Everett "Robbie" Robinson attributed the poor turnout to bad weather.
"Let's give a hand to everyone who came out today," Robinson said. "It's cold, it's rainy, so thank you for coming."
Faculty and staff members were present to answer questions, including Darryl Bridges, vice president of student affairs, and representatives from the housing office and dining services.
SGA presented reports and information prompted by questions raised at the January town hall meeting. Members of each committee assigned to research questions and concerns gave reports about their progress so far. The committees included parking, public safety, housing, marketing and dining.
The senate also proposed an SGA newsletter and event calendar to keep the student body informed about upcoming events and activities.
"The newsletter will come out monthly," Robinson said. "It would have a stand like when The Patriot comes out."
The idea would be another way of keeping students and organizations informed of campus happenings, Robinson said.
