House of Royale, an organization geared toward fashion and modeling, will attempt to take the audience back to childhood when the group hosts its second annual Fashion Show on Thursday, April 17 in Chapman Auditorium.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 8 p.m. Admission is $3, and tickets will be sold at the door. The theme for the show is "The Toy Box," and will be centered on fantasy and imagination.
Barika McCall, senior and president of House of Royale, said the show is full of talent and creativity.
"We're trying to take you back to being a child in a toy store," McCall said. "Be prepared to see a lot of talent."
Students will have a chance to showcase their creative, modeling and dancing skills during the show.
Jeffrey Easterling, senior and House of Royale member, thinks the show will open the eyes of audience members because it's different.
"This show will offer variety and originality," Easterling said.
Last year, portions of the show were focused on swimwear, school spirit and nature. Erica Dejesus, sophomore, said members hope the show will be a more inclusive experience for the audience this year.
"We're not trying to do just an African-American show," Dejesus said. "We're trying to do a more diverse show."
Dejesus and Tyawnne Wright, junior, modeled in the show last year and hope their work as choreographers this year will make the show more entertaining.
"We're trying to top last year's show by adding more choreography," Wright said. "The show will have a wow effect."
Although participants wouldn't reveal the secrets of the show, they promised it will be different from anything the campus has seen before.
Kazia Stewart, junior, attended the show last year and thought it would be the typical runway show. She was surprised, however, by the creativity she saw.
"I can't wait to see it this year," she said. "If they can top last year's show, then I will be very impressed."
